CVU will be posting regular updates in regards to our club and the COVID-19 Virus. Please look below to find out information about our Spring 2020 season and programs. Most recent updates will be listed at the top.
At this time, CVU is still planning on our U5/U6 and U7/U8 Summer Recreation League to begin on Wednesday, June 17th. If you have not responded to your program invitation, we ask that you please "accept" or "reject" the emailed invitation so that we have a better idea of numbers for the Summer.
CVU is following guidelines in place by the VA Youth Soccer Association to help keep our players and families safe. Currently, there is no physical contact allowed amongst players. There is a chance this could change before the 17th which would allow Summer Rec to happen. If this regulation does not change, the Summer Recreation League will be cancelled.
CVU will make the final call on whether or not to hold the Summer League on Friday, June 12th. Please keep an eye on your email inbox.
If the camp proceeds and your player(s) is unable to attend, CVU is able to offer you $37.50 in account credit. Should our Rec Summer plans be cancelled, all U5, U6, U7, and U8 Spring 2020 Rec players will be credited their full $50 payment to be used towards the Fall season.
Thank you for your time and have a great weekend,
Hello CVU Travel Families,
Half team practices are kicking off this coming week. Your player has been assigned to attend a Session 1 (5:30-6:30pm) or Session 2 (6:45-7:45pm) practice time. Team managers should have provided you with your player’s session as well as the training schedule for the June 1 to June 11 practices.

During these practices, CVU will have multiple guidelines in place to ensure the health and safety of our coaches, players, and families. Please read through and adhere to the guidelines listed below:
If at any point your player becomes ill, please inform CVU by email or phone - not your team manager or other parents. CVU will communicate with team parents if schedules have to change. Let us know if you have any questions about your player’s practice or CVU’s guideline.
Registration has opened for CVU Summer Camps - Striker/Keeper Camp & Preseason Travel Camp. Current CVU players will be evaluated by coahces for the 2020-2021 season. Any U12-U15 new to club players are encouraged to register for the full camp or a single camp day to use as a tryout.*
Preseason Travel Camp
*If you are new to CVU and interested in a travel tryout but the camp dates do not work for you, please contact the CVU Office directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Below you will find a letter from CVU to all current travel players. Please read this letter carefully and in full. We hope this information will help answer many of your questions about this Summer and the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
For the training sessions planned between June 1st and June 11th, CVU will be following guidelines put in place by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA). CVU has changed around our fields so that are not as close together and we will be allowing only 9 players plus a coach on each field at a time. These practice sessions will be modified for more individual play/drills as players are not to be in direct contact with each other. VYSA Guidelines (LINK)
The move to full team practices and the CCL games will only occur if Virginia moves into Phase Two on June 10th. CVU will be using our complex to the best of our abilities. With groups of 50 or less allowed, we will be able to have all team players plus a coach on the same field at a time. Any parent who sticks around for a practice will be asked to stay in or near their vehicle / at the fence line and to sociallycdistance themselves from others. No spectators, for practice or game days, will be allowed up to the sidelines to watch.
CVU has put together a list of guidelines that will be followed on game days. Coaches will have their temperatures taken and will be wearing masks. Hand sanitizer will be avaliable on all fields and players will need to clean their hands at half time and at the end of the games. Parents are asked to stay in their cars or keep to the outside fencing. CVU Game Day Protocals (LINK)

At this time, CVU has tentatively scheduled two Summer camps open to U6 to U10 players:
To help our club get an idea of how and when these credits will be dispersed, we ask that you please complete the following Google Form and submit your response by the end of the day on Friday, April 24th.
CVU has shared a club video message:
As of now, our Soccer Sisters program will now take place over the Summer. The program will still meet on Mondays at the CVU Complex from 6pm to 7pm. CVU has scheduled sessions for July 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. There is no need to sign up again if your player was already registered with us for the Spring 2020 season. Players will still receive a free t-shirt and soccer ball.
In accordance with VA Governor Northam’s announcement, CVU has extended program suspension through June 10th, 2020. This date is not set in stone and may be amended or rescinded by a further executive order depending upon how the COVID-19 situation unfolds over the next few weeks. We will continue to keep all CVU players and families informed of any changes and updates as they occur.
CVU has added new skill videos to the Player Center on our website. These videos feature our very own players and we encourage everyone to try out the demonstrated skills at home. Try to keep getting touches on the ball. Our Jugging Contest had a tie with two winners announced - Maria Ziegler and Edwin Kollasch. Congratulations players and great juggles from all who participated. Contest 2 is now up and running!

We hope everyone is doing well in the midst of all the uncertainty with the COVID-19 Virus. CVU wanted to provide a quick update about the club's plans moving forward for this Spring. At this time, we are following the guidelines set in place by the governor for the month of April - all programs at the club are currently suspended.
That being said, we are still hopeful that we may be able to resume play in May. We are looking into our options of running modified schedules and/or additional training and activities. Details of these possible changes and additions are still being finalized and we will email and post updates on our website as they become available.
This is a very fluid situation and - as updates come from our local, state, and federal government - we will adjust accordingly. In the case that we are not allowed to resume play this season, CVU has alternative courses of action in mind. We ask that all families please remain patient. Over the next few weeks we hope to get a clearer picture of what the future will be like and will update families on the club's next steps of action at that time.
Again, thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of uncertainty. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy. As always, you may reach out to us at email@example.com.
Our CVU Board is meeting this week to discuss our options in regards to our programs and players. The club is looking at the possibility of additional programming and whether or not we may be able to offer anything over the Summer months. The CVU Board will be looking over club finances and player payments to determine the best course of action on a program by program basis.
We understand that this is a new situation for everyone and it is unknown what may happen over the next few weeks and months. We are working on a day by day basis to make the best decisions we can - both for our club as a whole and for each of our players. It is unfortunate that we are unable to offer our Spring season as planned and our Staff and Board Members continue to consider all options while taking into account the statements made by our Governor, the CDC, and the governing bodies of soccer in the Commonwealth.
CVU would like to thank all of our players and families for their patience and understanding during this time. We hope to have more answers for you soon and we will remain available for contact via email.
Message from the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA):
"Dear Members: We hope this message finds all of you and your families, staffs, and club members doing well as we all try to adjust to the new normal of social distancing and restricted in-person activities...Most of us across the state have heeded the warnings of our governmental leaders and public health authorities. We understand that social distancing is a responsibility that we all share, and that we can defeat this virus only if everyone does their part. Indeed, we are not aware of a single recreational club or travel league across the state that has not stepped up to postpone their Spring activities... Accordingly, VYSA is strongly recommending to our member organizations that they suspend, at least through April 12, 2020, all activities that would create such in-person engagements. This would obviously include league and tournament matches and scrimmages, but also team practices/training, tryouts, and in-person group meetings...We will continue to monitor the recommendations from government and public health agencies and will continue to keep you informed of changes as events warrant."
-- The VYSA Board of Directors
New schedule for Soccer Sisters. There will be no sessions between March 16th and April 13th. As of now, CVU is looking to uphold the five sessions originally offered and resume Soccer Sisters after Spring Break. We will now be meeting on the following Mondays:
4/20, 4/27, 5/4. and 5/11. Dates have since been changed. All CVU activity is suspended through April, 2020.
CVU Players and Families,
Our Club considers the health and safety of all of our members a top priority. With the current state of the COVID-19 Virus, CVU recognizes the importance of communication and will be providing updates regarding our club and programs to all of our members.
With such an uncertain situation, we will be suspending all CVU programs and activities at this time. This suspension will continue through Sunday, March 29th, 2020. During this time:
CVU is working diligently to try and plan ahead – staff are looking to make up all missed activities on future dates with the possibility of extending the season. We understand that this choice may be inconvenient, but please note that this decision has been made in the interest of public health, taking into consideration the decisions of other youth sports organizations and the governing bodies within our sport.
CVU will continue to manage the situation as best as we can and adjust accordingly. We will be taking things day by day and provide updates and information regularly.
Please direct any questions or concerns you may have to our office email address at firstname.lastname@example.org.
